Coming Soon...CVMC's Got Talent!!!
The Dinner Theatre is scheduled for Tuesday, September 7th from 5:00 – 6:30 pm. The Morning Theatre will be held on Wednesday, September 8th from 7:30 – 9:00 am. Both events will occur in AHEC 112. The first 30 minutes of each theatre have been set aside to allow participants to eat while being entertained by certain of your CVMC co-workers (5:00-5:30 pm and 7:30-8:00 am). The buffet will be set in AHEC 110. The annual research theatre is an opportunity for you to learn more about current research projects being conducted by CVMC nurses at the point-of-care. Julie Carrigan, BSN, RN, CEN, from the Emergency Department nursing research team, will present the final results of the ED's temporal artery and rectal temperature comparison study. The Aromatherapy research team, comprised of Day Surgery Nurses, CRNAs and PACU nurses, is investigating peppermint aromatherapy to alleviate post-operative nausea and vomiting. Debra Sites, MHA, RN will give a presentation of this study, which is currently in the data collection phase of the research process. The research study under development in the Birthing Center will be presented by Stephanie Gilliam, BSN, RN. This nursing research team will address coping with pain in the laboring woman. Research presentations will begin promptly at 5:30pm and 8:00 am. Be sure to visit the Research and EBP Walk-Through in AHEC 105 before or after the theatre. Registration is required, as seating is limited, and can be completed through HealthStream. The last date to register is September 1st, 2010. Psychiatric & Mental Health Nursing Certification: Suzanne Bradshaw, RN-BC; Joni Graham, BSN, RN-BC; Monique Robinson, BSN, RN-BC all of Psychiatry Services Medical Surgical Certification: Misty Oxentine, BSN, RN-BC, Ortho/Neuro Falls Study to be Published. Patricia Wilke, MSN, RN, Managing Editor of Applied Nursing Research (ANR) recently notified Kimberly Yates, MSN, RN-BC, Psychiatry Services and Rebecca Tart, PhD, Research & EBP that their manuscript, "Acute care patient falls: evaluation of a revised fall prevention program following comparative analysis of psychiatric and medical patient falls," has been accepted for publication. "ANR is a refereed research journal devoted to uniting the efforts of all professional nurses to advance nursing as a research-based profession." (www.appliednursingresearch.org) The research is slated for publication in an upcoming issue of the Journal - a celebration for the authors and CVMC! CVMC Nurse Administrator Publishes Article. Congratulations to Van Haygood, MSN, RN, NE-BC, Emergency Department whose article, "Combating Emergency Department Overcrowding with Creative and Flexible Planning," was published in the July/August 2010 issue of Patient Safety & Quality Healthcare.
